Gains Matthew Blevins

Gains Matthew “Matt” Blevins, 58, of Fort Worth, Texas, passed peacefully from this life on November 12, 2025. He was born on October 4, 1967, in Fort Worth to Bobby Oren Blevins and Betty Sue Tedford Blevins. Matt was preceded in death by his parents, Bobby and Betty Blevins, and by his brother, Bobby Junior. He is lovingly remembered by his brother, Scotty Blevins and wife Lisa; his nephew, Nicholas Blevins of Paradise, Texas; his niece, Jacklyn Kalloor and husband Emil of Fort Worth, Texas; his sister, Lilian Elkins and his nephew, Michael Elkins of Fort Worth, Texas.

Raised on a horse farm in Roanoke, Texas, Matt grew up immersed in the traditions of agriculture, ranching, and hard work. He graduated from Keller High School, where he was a dedicated member of FFA, actively competing in dairy judging, livestock judging, and leadership development events. He continued his agricultural pursuits at Tarleton State University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Service and Development. During his time at Tarleton, he became a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity, rode bulls and placed in intramural rodeos, was selected for the Tarleton livestock judging team, and was elected to Student Government. He later became a member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association. It was also during these years that Matt discovered his passion for auctioneering. While working at a livestock sale barn and later at Fincher’s White Front Store in the Fort Worth Stockyards, he met Red Wheeler, who encouraged him to attend Missouri Auction School.

Matt went on to further his expertise at the Auction Marketing Institute at Indiana University, where he earned his Certified Auctioneers Institute Designation. Matt built a successful career as a realtor and real estate broker. He generously called auctions for numerous charitable organizations, donating his time and talent to raise millions of dollars for worthy causes. He remained deeply connected to Tarleton State University and contributed to the institution that helped shape him. Matt’s energy, charisma, and authenticity led to appearances on the Storage Wars: Texas series, and he later served as an extra in the Bass Reeves and Landman series. He competed in and won the Celebrity Cutting cutting horse competition, and he recently placed in an open livestock show exhibiting cattle. 

Among his many passions, none surpassed his love for Fort Worth—especially the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo. Matt volunteered faithfully each year, serving on various stock show committees. He cherished riding horseback in the parade as a marshall and participating in the Rodeo Grand Entry. Wearing his purple sport coat with pride, he served as a dedicated member of the FWSSR Ambassador Committee. Each year, Matt eagerly counted down the days until the stock show returned. Matt was guided throughout his life by several influential mentors, including his father, Bobby Blevins, as well as Hoyt Fincher, Alan Luskey, Dr. Johnny Johnson, and his high school FFA advisors, Mr. George Smith and Mr. Dallas Renfro. 

Their teachings helped shape the man he became. Matt lived life fully and passionately. He loved horses, music, fishing, golf, hunting, cattle, and education. Those who knew him will remember his unwavering generosity, his deep-rooted pride in Texas heritage, and his contagious enthusiasm for the people and traditions he cherished. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and the many communities whose lives he touched.
