James (Jim) Lawrence Swete, 81, of San Antonio, Tx, passed away on August 25, 2022. Jim was born on March 5, 1941 to Joseph and Mary Padden Swete in Syracuse, NY.
Jim proudly served in the US Air Force for more than 20 years; he was a military photographer and ran the base photo-lab. After his military career, he went to college and became a systems analyst, working for various companies and ultimately owning his own software business. Jim and his wife (Helen) raised their daughters, helped raise many children in their in-home daycare and were foster parents to numerous children. He also loved being grandpa/papa to his four grandsons. He leaves a legacy of strong work-ethic, sacrifice, love, and commitment.
Jim is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years (Helen Swete), his parents, brother (Patrick Swete) and brother (Dick Swete). He is survived by his daughter Lori Swete, daughter Debra Swete Ross and spouse John, daughter Amber Swete Ramirez and spouse Hector, and four grandchildren; Ryan, Reid, Regan, and Oliver. He is also survived by his sister Jean Swete McBain and his nieces and nephews.
A Rosary beginning at 9:30 a.m. will be followed by a Funeral mass at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on September 6, 2022. Final burial and graveside services will be held at Ft. Sam Houston at 2:15pm.
