James E. "Jim" Swift II

James Swift Obituary

James E. Swift, 70 of Oak Harbor, OH died Monday, September 2, 2024 at Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton following a lengthy illness. He was born June 15, 1954 in Nemacolin, PA to the late James and Arlene Mae (Deppen) Swift Sr. On October 28, 1977 he married Lodema S. (Bender), and she survives. Jim was a barber in Port Clinton for many years where he also owned and operated Underwood's Restaurant, also in Port Clinton. He and his wife then purchased Kamp Modoc, a campground in Indiana which they ran for 18 years.
Jim was an avid woodturner creating many beautiful pieces of art. He loved sharing his knowledge of his art with family and friends. Jim recently was honored with "Best of Show" for his turned wood pieces at the August Art In The Park event in Port Clinton. Jim loved his family and always had a smile and a hug for everyone. When asked, Jim offered sound advice and always said goodbye with "I Love You and Drive Carefully".
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Lodema of Oak Harbor; step-children: Kimberly (David) Groh of Findlay, OH, Kendyl (Dawn) Peters of Elmore, OH, Kristine (Tom) Tarallo of Oak Harbor, OH, Kevin (Laurie) Peters of Gibsonburg, OH, and Korilee (Ron) Hatmaker of Oak Harbor, OH; 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.
There will be no services for Jim as cremation has taken place through Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Oak Harbor Chapel. Memorial Contributions may be given to a charity of the donor's choice. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.crosserpriesmanfuneralhome.com.
