James Andrew Swift was born December 2, 1956, to the late Joseph Swift, Sr., and Alice Hampton Swift in New Roads, LA. James entered eternal life on Friday, October 10, 2025, at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in
Rowlett, Texas. Special thank you to the Intensive Care Unit staff at Baylor Scott & White Hospital.
James attended and graduated from Rosenwald high School in New Roads, LA, in 1974. After graduation he moved to Dallas. He joined the Navy in 1979 and was discharged in 1982. After serving in the Navy, he attended the University of Dallas and graduated in 1991 with a degree in Economics and Finance.
James lived a quiet life, soft spoken, and deep faith in serving the Lord. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with family and friends. He kept in touch with many of his childhood friends and high school classmates.
James worked for the Dallas Sheriff's Department Guardsman Security Services for over 15 years and Allied Universal Security Services until he retired in 2024.
James leaves to cherish his memories: Ida Swift Means, Dallas TX, Mary Swift Whitfield, Baton Rouge LA, Clarence Swift (Dorothy), Blytheville AR, Benny Ray Johnson (Edna), Detroit MI, Nicole King (Arvis), Colby King, Markeisha Moore, La'Neisha King, Ronald Whitfield, Edwin Whitfield, Alexis Whitfield, Bandon Means, Desmond Chase Means, Deshawn means, and a host of relatives, friends and classmates of 1974 Rosenwald High.
James is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Swift, Sr., and Alice Hampton Swift, Joseph Swift, Jr., and Beulah Swift King.
