James Taft Obituary
James D. Taft, age 86 of Newport, MI passed away April 14, 2025 surrounded by family. Loving husband of Lydia Taft for 65 wonderful years. Beloved dad of James J. (Erin) Taft and David (Mary) Taft. Proud grandpa of Nicole (Daniel), Keeley, Marie and Jaxon. Dearest brother of Shirley (Dan) May. He is preceded in death by his parents James and Wilma Taft. He also leaves behind his many loving nieces and nephews. James was a dedicated supervisor at Ford Motor Company and proudly served in the United States Army. He was a handyman of all types, loved ice cream and his yard work. James has served as an elder, usher and greeter at St. Paul Lutheran Church. He took much pride and joy in taking care of his three granddaughters over the years. James happily enjoyed his retirement together with Lydia traveling and spending time at the cottage up north. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of James may be made directly to St. Paul Lutheran Church and / or the American Heart Association.
