James Herbert Tamraz, 74, a long-time resident of Grayslake, IL, passed away on March 11, 2024, at his home. He was born September 4, 1949, in Great Lakes, IL to John P. and June (nee: Horn) Tamraz.
Jimmy drifted peacefully to the other side smiling after stating he was called for his next epic adventure. He was a "one in a million person" who would find the best in any situation. Jim was a true optimist and guiding light. He was an outstanding leader, during his military service and at home. Jimmy was a magnificent husband, incredible father, wonderful grandad, valued friend, talented author, enlightened philosopher, a bit of an eclectic (top-hat), trusted mentor for those in need, an avid historian, and a decorated true Vietnam war hero. Jimmy was always out and about on the forest preserve trails embracing the beautiful gifts of nature. He truly celebrated every single day.
James is survived by his wife of 50 years, Gale, whom he wed on June 23, 1973, at Fort Sheridan, IL, his children JuliAnna Cimaglio of Third Lake and Gretta (Jeffrey Buff) of Johnsburg, his grandchildren Katelyn Cimaglio, Ellen Cimaglio, and Cameron Buff, and his siblings Jeanne Pirc, Jeff Tamraz, and Jack (Aneta) Tamraz. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Joel Tamraz.
A visitation and funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium 410 E. Belvidere Rd. Grayslake, IL 60030 from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm with the funeral service commencing at 5:30 pm. Interment will be held privately.
