James L. Thibault

The family of James Lukey Thibault, 81, of St. Albans, announces that he passed away peacefully November 25, 2025, in St. Albans. He was born in Swanton, December 12, 1943 to Norman and Nellie (Letourneau) Thibault. James married Shirley Commings, November 7, 1964. Jim served our country in the United States Army National Guard of Vermont. He served for many years at the St. Albans Police Department, retiring at the rank of Sergeant. He then worked in the grocery department at Grand Union. Jim was also a salesman for Handy's and Paquin's, and then he retired from IBM.
Jim was a big fan of watching boxing on TV. Though he didn't in his later years, he enjoyed bowling both with and against his son Kevin.
Jim will be remembered for being very direct, and you always knew where you stood with him. He was known for being a perfectionist, making sure that everything he did was the best he could make it. Jim liked to go deer hunting in both the archery and rifle seasons. He also loved spending time outside cutting wood, and spent many hours with his family maintaining the deer camp in the summertime.
He is survived by his son Kevin Thibault of Swanton, VT, his daughter, Kathy Kulp of Ruskin, FL, his brothers Rodney Thibault and spouse Valerie Thibault, and Ricky Thibault.
James was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Thibault, his parents Norman Thibault and Nellie Thibault, his granddaughter, Gracie Thibault,his sister Linda Burbo and her husband Douglas, his brother,Larry Thibault, and his son-in-law Harry Kulp.
A Remembrance Gathering will be held December 4, 2025, at 11:00AM, in Brady & Levesque Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. A Time of Reflection will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
As an alternative to flowers, memorials may be made in his name to a charity of ones choice.
