Sister Jane Thibault

Sister Jane Thibault, SSND, 90, died January 24, 2026, at Benedictine Living Community - Windermere, Shakopee, Minnesota. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 16, at Windermere Chapel, 1705 Windermere Way, Shakopee, with Visitation at 10:00; Sharing of Memories at 10:30; and a Funeral Liturgy at 11:00. Livestreaming will be available at www.ssndcp.org/live/blc Burial in the Good Counsel Cemetery, Mankato, will be held at 2:15.

Sister Jane and her twin brother were born in St. Paul on November 19, 1935. She attended St. Andrew and Holy Childhood Elementary Schools and St. Joseph's Academy in St. Paul, graduating in 1953. She entered the School Sisters of Notre Dame in Mankato in 1954 and professed first vows in 1956. She taught intermediate grades at SS. Peter & Paul School, Mankato, until 1963 and then taught business courses and other classes at several Catholic high schools from 1963 through 1987. Following eight years as an administrative assistant to SSND leadership in Mankato, Sister Jane relocated to Dallas, Texas, where she worked in a group home helping young adults with disabilities to live independently. She later served in community leadership on Good Counsel Hill, provided volunteer service to the elderly in St. Paul and tutored for the East Side Learning Center in St. Paul. She returned to Good Counsel Hill in 2019 and moved with other School Sisters of Notre Dame to Shakopee in 2022.

Sister Jane is survived by her sisters in community, the School Sisters of Notre Dame and SSND Associates, her brother, Bill Thibault, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Francis and Mary (Horan) Thibault, her sisters Margaret Cade and Mary Ellen Mullaney and her brothers Jim, Frank, Harold and Joe Thibault.
