James Ray Thompson born April 20th, 1954, in Pikeville KY.
Ray was an avid dirt track racing fan. He and his brother John traveled all over to go to the races. Ray was 68 when he passed away at home on August 25, 2022, after a short battle with cancer.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Garfield and Lizzie Collins, and Dewey Thompson " The Chairmaker''; and parents, Wilton and Myrtle Thompson.
Ray is survived by his Cat; one brother, John (Connie) Thompson; one sister, Rosalee (Randy) Mandeville; seven special nieces and nephews, Amanda (Francis) Spalding, Stephen Whitt, Layla Whitt, Tiffany Mandeville, John Dalton Thompson, Randy Madeville, Brandon (Victoria) Thompson; and 15 great nieces and nephews.
Ray Ray was especially close with Natalie and Cooper, or as he liked to call them frick and frack. These kids were like his very own.
Ray was the strongest person that we all knew. He fought a courageous battle. It is easy to say that he was our rock, and this world will never have someone like him. He often told us " The main thing to remember is to calm down and not get excited."
Ray, our beloved Brother, Uncle will be so terribly missed by all who knew and loved him.
But we can hold to the assurance that we will see him again one day in our Heavenly Home.
Services will be held at 6:00 PM, on Tuesday, August 30th, 2022, at Big Hill Christian Church, 1150 Goggins Lane, Richmond, Kentucky, with Brother Jim Riggs officiating. Visitation 4:00 PM until time of service.
Care Cremation and Funeral Service is honored to be entrusted with final care.
