James' Life Story
James Henry Tiggs Jr., the beloved son of the late James and Bertha Ann Tiggs, was born on July 6, 1969, at Milford Memorial Hospital in Milford, Delaware. He departed this life on November 2, 2024.
A longtime resident of Dover, Delaware, James graduated from Lake Forest High School in Felton, Delaware, in 1987. There, he was an avid baseball and basketball player.
Following high school, James proudly served his country in the United States Army for seven years, including active duty during Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Throughout his service, he was recognized with several commendations, including the Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Sharpshooter Marksmanship Badge (Rifle), and the M-16 Marksman Marksmanship Badge (Grenade).
After his military service, James worked as a Chemical Operator for many years, most recently employed at Dentsply Sirona in Milford, Delaware. Known for his unwavering loyalty as an Eagles fan, James was overjoyed to witness their 2018 Super Bowl victory. James loved laughter, humor, and spending time with family and friends.
James enjoyed classic TV shows like *Gunsmoke*, *The Rifleman*, *Sanford & Son*, and the Marvel movies. Traveling and making memories with the "Vacay Squad" (the Youngs, Hovingtons, and Burtons) was one of his favorite pastimes.
James' heart was as big as his laughter, and his kindness touched everyone he met. His family and friends remember him as someone who truly lived life to the fullest.
James is survived by his devoted wife of nine years, April Tiggs; his twin brother, Jason Allen Tiggs of Felton, Delaware; his children, Ki'ara Rufus of Milford, Delaware, and Zachary Hobbs of Smyrna, Delaware; and his stepchildren, Lauren Thomas of Dover, Delaware, and Stephon Alvarado of Riverside, California. He was the proud grandfather of seven grandchildren: Sa'ir Ross, Avaiya Hazzard, O'Brien Morris Jr., Jayden Reyes, Julian Reyes, Mason Alvarado, and Gianna Alvarado. He is also survived by two nieces, Shaniece Harris and Janasia Tiggs, one nephew, Jason Tiggs Jr., one great-niece, Giovanna Tiggs, along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and dear friends including Lamont Hyland, John Mallory, Steve Carter, Sam Beasley, and Jackie Winder.
James' kind spirit, warm heart, and infectious laughter will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
