James Richard "Jim" Truex

James "Jim" Richard Truex, 87, of Wadsworth, OH died peacefully on Thursday, January 30th, 2025 after several years of battling with the crippling physical effects of Multiple Systems Atrophy – a rare, neurodegenerative disorder. He was born on August 18th, 1937 in Barberton, OH. Despite the challenges endured during his illness, Jim maintained his tactful wit and sense of humor, which he effortlessly conveyed to his family, friends and caregivers.
Jim is survived by his wife Pat Truex (Patrica Ann Edwards). They were married July 8th, 1961, in Akron, spending most of their 63 years of marriage in Wadsworth. He is also survived by their two children; John Truex of Aiken, SC and Julie Fuerst (Rick) of Stafford, VA; loving grandchildren, Joshua, Melissa Fuerst-Kubota (Teru), and Anna; and sixteen nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Harold John & Grace Irene Truex and sisters, Helen Doyle and Evelyn Thomas.
Jim was a graduate of Kenmore High School in Akron, class of 1955 and served in the Army Reserves. He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company as a lab technician after 33 years, retiring on 9/9/99.
Jim was an avid sportsman, fisherman, hunter, and a "scratch" golfer enjoying these activities mainly because of the time spent with his many beloved friends and relatives. A lifetime supporter of the local professional sports teams, Jim also enjoyed attending the Wadsworth High School basketball and football games over many years.
Visiting hours will be Friday, February 7th, 2025, from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M., followed by a memorial service at 1:00 PM, both at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral home in Wadsworth. A reception at a local establishment will follow the memorial service.
