William James Turman age 87 of Sulligent, AL passed away Friday, January 5, 2024 in the St. Vincent's Hospital in Birmingham, AL.
Born April 2, 1936 in Sulligent, AL, he is the Son of the late William Murray and Mytrice Belle Stanford Turman and the Husband of Betty Jane Norton Turman. He had lived in the Forestdale area for over 60 years where he was a home builder. He retired in 2005 and moved back to his farm in the Pine Springs Community. He was a member of the United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his Wife of 66 years, Betty Jane Norton Turman, a Son, Jason (Teri) Turman, Grandson, Justin, 4 Granddaughters, Ashley (Robert), Jessica (Evan), Tiffani and Rylie, 3 Great Grandsons, Ethan, Jackson, and Manning, and 3 Great Granddaughters, Elyssa, Adelyn, and Annie.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, Murray and Myrtice Turman, a Son, Jim Turman, A Daughter, Vicki Penny Whaley and a Sister, Billie Joyce Turman Yeager.
Services held Sunday, January 7, 2024 at 2:00 PM from the Veal Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Wofford Cemetery. Bro. Ray McPhaul officiating.

James Truman was my uncle. He was a fine man. He enjoyed life. He was an integral part of family get togethers at my grandparents house. It was a joy coming back to Lamar County to see how much pleasure our aunts, uncles, parents, and grandparents had together! James and the rest, provided us with life lessons by the example they set.
He was dedicated to his family and worked hard throughout his life.
Our deepest condolences to Betty Jane and the entire family.
