James J. Turner II, 72, of the Plantsville section of Southington, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, October 2, 2025. He was the loving husband and best friend of Pamela (Ragozzino) Turner. Jim was predeceased by his first wife, Patricia (Marek) Turner.
Jim was born on July 28, 1953 in San Antonio, TX to the late James J. and Joan (Hallock) Turner.
Over the years, Jim held many positions within the agricultural field. He was passionate about educating, mentoring and guiding people. Jim served as a volunteer Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 45 in Southington for 23 years and was a proud Eagle Scout. Additionally, he was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. He retired from the State of Connecticut, DCP as a Supervisor in the Department of Weights and Measures.
Jim will be remembered for his gentle spirit and compassion for others. Above all, he cherished his family and truly enjoyed life. His faith, spirit and positivity remained strong throughout his 16 year long battle with cancer. Jim took part in four separate clinical trials with the intent of further advancing treatment for future patients.
In addition to his wife Pam, Jim is survived by his children, Michael Turner and his wife Libby of Southington, Katie Ragozzino Nash and her husband Pat of Syracuse, NY and Thomas Ragozzino of Southington. His granddaughter, Isla Turner, and his expected grandson “Baby Nash.” He is also survived by his sister, Christine Crabtree and her husband David of VA, his brother, Robert Turner of LA, his mother-in-law, Judy Pitt of Rocky Hill and many nieces, nephews and countless dear friends.
Jim’s family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the incredible care team at the HOCC, New Britain Campus, Critical Care Unit, for their compassion and excellent care they provided.
