James Edward "Jim" Tuttle, 84, passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2025 following a sudden illness.
He was born in Kingsbury, Maine and is son of the late Harold Earl Tuttle and Gertrude Olivine Gurley Tuttle. Following high school graduation, at the age of 18, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. His 1st station of duty was in NAS Jacksonville, FL and he stated he would never go back up North. He attained the rank of E-8 (SCPO) and retired on July 31, 1980 and served during the Vietnam Conflict. Jim loved to fish, work in his yard and spend time with his family. He has been a long time fan of the Jacksonville Jaguars and Boston Red Sox.
Preceded in death by his parents, his son, Sam Tuttle, sisters: Ann Martin, Virginia Lashon and Marion Goodrich and his brother, Richard Tuttle. Surviving family include his wife of 59 years, Sheryl Hall Tuttle; daughter, Joy Wagner and her husband Kerry; 4 grandchildren: Megan Sloan, Samantha Marlowe (Warren), Taylor Sloan and Hayley Tuttle; 2 great grandchildren: Matthew & Annabelle; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 24, 2025 at Peeples Funeral Home, 14165 N. Main Street.
Burial with U.S. Navy Honors will be held at 12:30 PM at Jacksonville National Cemetery.
His family will greet friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Thursday at the funeral home.
