James Vala Obituary
May 4, 1956 – December 24, 2025
James R. Vala, beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2025, at the age of 69. Born on May 4, 1956, in Ohio to the late James J. Vala and Gladys Marie Vala, Jim lived a life marked by service, dedication, and love for his family and community. Jim proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps from 1974 to 1978, earning an honorable discharge. During his service, he specialized as an Aviation Ordnance/Missile Technician and Aircraft Armament Mechanic. His commitment was recognized with the National Defense Medal and commendations, including a Meritorious Mast and Letter of Appreciation.
Beyond his military career, Jim was deeply passionate about Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, where he devoted countless hours mentoring and guiding young people. His love for woodworking was evident in the craftsmanship and creativity he brought to every project, leaving behind pieces that will be cherished for generations.
Jim is survived by his wife, Joanna Vala, and his children: Jimmy, Sarah, Joey, and Maryelise Dick (Mitchell). He was predeceased by his best friend and brother, Joseph Vala, whose memory Jim carried in his heart throughout his life.
