James Michael Vales, was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, who passed away peacefully at the age of 85 on July 8, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents James Robert and Ruth (Butler) Vales, son Michael James Vales, 2 brothers Dennis and Hugh Vales, sister Sharon Harrison; and one living brother Kevin Vales.

He was a loving husband to Lucille (Griffith) Vales for 37 years. Father to Annette Wright and Amy (Wright) Janusz (husband Richard), and was a caring grandfather to Kimberly (Janusz) Holden (husband Ty) and Haley Janusz. Great-Grandfather to Chloe, Hadelyn, and Violet Holden. Known as Uncle Mickey to many nieces and nephews. Mike was a special friend to lots of his co-workers and S.A.S.S members.

Mike's career spanned over 40 years in the manufacturing industry. He started as a journeyman tool & die maker at Shure Brothers, and retired as a Plant Manager at Switchcraft. In his free time he enjoyed cowboy action shooting and clay shooting in the Single Action Shooting Society, enjoying life with his family, and had a passion for cars.

Visitation for Mike is Sunday July 13, 2025 from 3-6pm at N.H. Scott & Hanekamp Funeral Home, 1240 Waukegan Road, Glenview. Funeral Mass Monday July 14, 2025 at 10 am; with visitation starting at 9am at St. Catherine Laboure, 3535 Thornwood, Glenview. Interment: All Saints Cemetery at the Immaculate Heart Of Mary Mausoleum, 700 North River Road, Des Plaines.
