The loss of a child is an unimaginable tragedy, and one that no parent ever expects to face. But sadly, losing a son happens, and it is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of my beloved son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, family member, and friend, James E. Waiters Jr. (AKA: Blue, Jr. and Waiters), who left us on September 20, 2024.
James was a beacon of light in our lives, bringing joy, laughter, and love to everyone he met. His light shone so brightly we cannot really believe it is gone. He touched not only our hearts but the hearts of so many others and left an everlasting memory.
As his mother, I am incredibly proud of the person James became. His strength, courage, compassion, and love for God were clear in everything he did, and I will love you forever.
Although our hearts are full of sadness, we find comfort in the countless beautiful memories we shared with him and in knowing he is no longer enduring any pain and suffering but now resting in peace.
James was born in San Antonio, Texas, and at the age of six, his mother moved him and his sisters to
Ogden, UT. From an early age, he showed a remarkable spirit and zest for life. He was enthusiastic about family, music, food, sports, and travel and had a great sense of humor. If you were sad, he knew exactly what to say to make you smile. He set a track and field record at Ogden High School. In the 70's, he played bass guitar in a local group with his sisters, cousin, and friends.
In 1989 he decided on moving to California, and after years of the west coast life, in 2011 he returned to Ogden along with his significant other Bonnie Brown.
He was truly inspiring, and his kindness, generosity, and unwavering support for his family and friends will never be forgotten.
James is survived by: Mother: Constance P. Beasley-Brinkley
Sons: Ladell and Jamaal Waiters. He was a devoted father to Ladell and Jamaal Waiters, who will always remember his unwavering love. Siblings: Jamesettta (Jamie) Hunt, Doris A. Robinson, Calvin Waiters, Vivian M. Frank (Tony), Beverly J. Clark (Fred), Mamie Harrison (Connie Roy), Mary Bowens (Charles), and Karla Brinkley. "Dear brother, whose bond was unbreakable and filled with cherished memories. He was an adored brother; conversations and laughter will be deeply missed."

Family Tribute
An Angel whispered, take my hand and come with me; your work here is done.
I went away to a place where there's neither tears nor sorrow, only laughter and smiles.
There will always be a tomorrow.
And as I move amongst the clouds, I'll look down and smile upon you,
while the angels sing a heavenly song.
I'm not alone; all who went before me are here:
They awaited my return.
I know you will grieve and wish I was still here.
I am here in the memories you hold dear.
Remember how much I love you, and know I took your love with me.
I did not wish for you to cry or feel sad.
My pain is gone, and I am free!
Soon you will come to me.
Until then, God will be with you just as he is with me.
"Remember Me"
Do not remember me with sadness,
Do not remember me with tears,
Remember all the laughter,
We have shared throughout the years.
Now I am in peace and content,
That my life was worthwhile.
Knowing as I passed along the way I made somebody smile.
When you are walking down the street,
And you have gotten me on your mind,
Just remember all the memories one at a time
So please do not be unhappy.
Just because I am out of sight,
Just remember all the laughter, joy and good times we had each morning, noon and night!
Thank You!
We extend an extra special thanks to Rev. Charles Petty and the Second Baptist Church for your love, prayers, food, and
warm hospitality.
