James Mims Walker, born on January 22, 1944, in Aberdeen, Mississippi, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly November 19, 2024, in Rochester, New York. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose presence will be profoundly missed.

For his entire career, James dedicated his professional life to the Eastman Kodak Company, where he served as a chemical engineer. His expertise and contributions to the company were a testament to his commitment to his work and his passion for science.

James proudly served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968. This period in his life was marked by a strong sense of duty and pride, values that he carried throughout his life.

He was a dedicated member of the Immaculate Conception Church, where he served as an Eucharistic Minister, actively participated in the choir and was known by all for his kindheartedness and generosity.

James was a proud member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, where he not only contributed to the fraternity’s mission but was also selected to sing in the prestigious Omega Choir.

In his leisure time, James enjoyed playing golf and cherished the moments spent with his family, particularly his grandchildren. Upon retirement, he took great joy in ferrying his grandkids to and from school, a reflection of his love for family and commitment to being present in their lives.

James is remembered as a kind, thoughtful, and sweet man, always putting others before himself. His selflessness was evident in his actions as family man, caregiver and friend, which left a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to know him.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 55 years, Carolyn Rich Walker, and their children: James (Marielle), Alison (Michael), and Adrien (Timothy). He was a proud grandfather to Timothy Jr., Luke, Emma, and Michael. James is also survived by his brother, John (Mary) Walker, his cousin Harolyn Walker, his fellow caregivers Fatou, Crystal and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins who cherished his presence and shared cherished memories with him.

James was predeceased by his parents, John Walker and Fannie Young, as well as his nephew, Tracy Walker.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate James's life during the visitation on November 24, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at New Comer Funeral Home, 2636 Ridgeway Ave, Rochester, NY. His Funeral Mass will follow on Monday November 25, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Immaculate Conception / St. Bridget's Church, located at 445 Frederick Douglass St, Rochester, NY.

James Mims Walker’s legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering support lives on in the hearts of those he touched. He will be remembered not only for his accomplishments but for the profound impact he had on his family and community.
