James K. "Wally" Waltrip

James Kenneth "Wally" Waltrip, age 77, of Rural Dahinda, Illinois died at 8:40 A.M. on Monday, June 6, 2022 at his home. He was born on May 24, 1945 in Clarkton, Missouri the son of Edwin and Betty Jean (Waltrip) Hungerford. He married Reva (Pruett) Schubert on December 4, 1993 in Sunnyland, Illinois. Surviving is his wife, Reva Waltrip of Rural Dahinda, Illinois; children: Betty M. Waltrip, Sharon L. Waltrip of Peoria, Illinois, Nick (Jody) Schubert of Williamsfield, Illinois, Ryan L. Schubert of Pekin, Illinois, and Shaun M. Schubert of Sunnyland, Illinois; and five grandchildren: Nicole Fore, Billy Robertson, Sydney Schubert, Brody Schubert, and Erin Barber. He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter-in-law, Patricia Jean "P.J." Schubert. Wally was a welder for Caterpillar in East Peoria, Illinois, retiring in 2005. He served his country in the United States Navy from July 18, 1962 to July 8, 1966. He served on the USS Halsey and the USS Buchanan. He received the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Vietnam) and the National Defense Service Medal. He was a member of the Vietnam Veterans Organization of Illinois and the VFW of East Peoria, Illinois. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, driving his tractors. He loved his family dearly. Cremation Rites will be accorded. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes & Crematory have been entrusted with his wishes.
