Jeffrey Lee Waltrip, 68, a resident of Etowah, TN, went to Heaven on Monday, December 16, 2024 at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville. He was born in Austin, TX on March 23, 1956. Jeff lived in Texas until he moved with his family to Athens, TN in 2006. He was of the Church of God faith. Jeff enjoyed camping and was an avid "piddler." He said everyday was Saturday and lived his life that way. He played the guitar, tried his hand at making wine, regularly dried fruits, veggies, and meats and created notebooks, coasters, and clocks from vinyl albums. He enjoyed spending time with his friends playing cards, bowling on the Wii, putting together puzzles and fellowshipping over a meal at his community center. He was a true joyologist and above all, enjoyed spending quality time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Kathy Waltrip; parents, Jon and Linda Sagester; father, Burroughs Allen Waltrip; and sister, Lisa Quiros. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his children: Anna (James) Arnwine, Jon (Cherie) Waltrip, Julie (William) McBryar, Joshua (Alexis) Waltrip; thirteen grandchildren: Atticus, Jakaylah, Jordan, Jade, Lawson, Lela, Emma, Josh Jr., Haley, Joshlyn, Dawson, Adeline and Dillon; 3 great grandchildren; Sisters: Cindy (Fred) Hagat, Bambi (Bob) Bush, Christy (Richard) Miller, Keely Pack, Leanna (Mike) Wyatt; Brother: Soc (Theresa) Waltrip; dear friends of the Brookvale Garden Community; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. The family will receive family and friends on Saturday, January 4, 2025 from 5:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at Companion Funeral Home of Athens, TN located at 400 S. White Street Athens, TN.
