James Eugene "Jimmy" Ware
September 9, 1935 – May 19, 2025
Peacefully and surrounded by his loved ones, James Eugene Ware, known affectionately as Jimmy, passed away on the evening of Monday, May 19th, at the age of 89.
Jimmy was deeply loved by many and known for his bright personality and his big, gorgeous smile. He truly loved life and brought joy to everyone he met.
Born on September 9, 1935, in Fayetteville, Georgia, Jimmy proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army Reserve. A master plumber by trade, he founded his own business, Doraville Plumbing, and later worked alongside his son at D.E.W. Plumbing.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny Barkley Ware Jr., and Helen C. Newman Ware; his brothers J.B. and Larry, and his beloved wife, the late Delores Sitler Ware.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Rita Ware, and his sister, Carol Elliot.
Jimmy leaves behind a lasting legacy through his three children: Lance Ware, Derek Ware (Terri) and Chandra Ware Southall; twelve grandchildren: Ashley Ware Caudana(Dario) Whitley Ware, Cason Ware, Erica Ware Heyward (Richie), Morgan Ware, Joe Moore, Elizabeth Ware, Carson Barrett, Luke Southall, Talia Dobbins, Vincent Dobbins, and Isabella Dobbins; and two great-grandchildren: Myla Stevenson and Lorelei Heyward - with one more on the way, Daylin Caudana.
Funeral services for Jimmy will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2025 at 12:00 pm in the Peachtree Corners Chapel of Crowell Brothers Funeral Homes & Crematory with Rev. Ken Bennett and Dr. Matthew Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at North Atlanta Memorial Park with military honors. The family will gather with friends on Friday, May 23, 2025 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm and again on Saturday, May 24, 2025 from 11:00 am until the time of the service at the funeral home.
We will gather to celebrate the remarkable man he was, sharing stories and laughter as we reflect on the memories we hold dear.
Immediately following the service the family will receive guests to share a meal at JR's Log House Restaurant located at
6601 Peachtree Industrial Blvd, Peachtree Corners, GA 30092
In lieu of cut flowers that wither with time, the family kindly requests your support in creating a lasting tribute. We invite you to contribute flowers, seeds, or trees that can be planted to grow a memorial prayer garden-a place of peace, remembrance, and continued life in honor of our beloved. This living garden will serve as a sanctuary where love and memories can blossom for years to come. Monetary donations to support the creation of the garden are also welcome and can be made via Venmo at @Derek-Ware-1.
On-line condolences may be expressed at www.crowellbrothers.com. Arrangements entrusted to Crowell Brothers Funeral Homes & Crematory, 5051 Peachtree Industrial Boulevard, Peachtree Corners, GA 30092. 770-448-5757.
