James Warren Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Turner Funeral Home - Waynesboro on Oct. 29, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

MR. JAMES CURTIS WARREN was born on February 7, 1961 to the union of the late Mr. Daniel Leo ("D.L.") and Ennie Mae (Pou) Warren. He was affectionately known to all as "Long Boy." He was a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Waynesboro.
He married the former Glenda Hundley, and the two would enjoy a loving marriage until his passing.
An all around athlete, "Long Boy" was active on the sports teams while a student at Waynesboro Central High School. He also played with the "Thumps" baseball team in the early 1980s. Even after he graduated from high school with the Class of 1980, he ran the clock at the high school for the boys and girls' basketball teams at the high schools in Waynesboro and Quitman. This was a position in which he participated from 1981 until last year (2024).
He also refereed some of the semi pro basketball games that were held at Waynesboro Riverview and Quitman schools. It goes without saying "Long Boy" liked softball, basketball, and football. There are some who have said as youths, he'd invite them to play on his softball team. While on the team, they'd have fun, but the game of softball was the main focus. That was a very fond remembrance for the people who were in that realm of his life experience.
He didn't have a favorite basketball team, but his favorite football team was the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Taking a note of the race belonging to one who endures to the end, on the morning of October 24, 2025, the race ended for "Long Boy," and he transitioned from his earthly plane to his eternal reward.
He leaves memories encased in love with his wife, Glenda Warren; two children: Javonne Hundley and Cassandra Hundley; four grandchildren: Tristen Murray, Latino Bacon, Bethanie Hundley, Jacion Hundley; special grandchildren: Karsyn Stenson and Kaiden Stenson; two sisters: Sharon Trunnell and Emma Gray Robinson; two brothers: Sidney (Mary) Warren and Lee Marvin (Sherika) Everett; aunts: Eloise Richey, Girtha Pou, Marvis McCann and Flora Jean Arrington; a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Roger and Larry Warren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 1, 2025 at 3:00 PM at St. John MB Church with Rev. Rayford Matthews as the officiant. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. His viewing period will occur Friday, October 31, 2025 from 1:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Turner Funeral Home.
