Jim Warriner, an avid motorcycle rider with a soft spot for schnauzers and a talent for patent law, had a kind heart and was always happy to lend a ladder or hand to friends, family and neighbors. While he enjoyed travel and gathering with close friends and family, he was content at home with his wife and Hildie, the dog who was always overjoyed to see him walk in the door.
Whether he was riding his motorcycle or participating in a group bicycle ride that lured cyclists by ending at a brewery, Jim loved being on two wheels and exploring the hill country. He enjoyed many bike rides with his father, George, who died shortly after Jim.
James George Warriner was born on August 19, 1976, to George H. and Joy Steffes Warriner.
Jim is survived by his wife Kara Hamann. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, and cousins, and loving in-laws: Helen, Jennifer, Matt, Molly, Steve, Anthony, Lin and Judy.
Jim's mother, Joy, and father-in-law, Rick, predeceased him.
Jim spent most of his childhood years in North Carolina. He graduated from John T Hoggard High School in Wilmington, NC, before attending Duke University.
A professional transition to software implementation and training took Jim around the world before he settled in Austin, TX and gave Jim the fodder for many "When I was in Paris " stories.
Jim enrolled at the University of Texas Law School and pursued a career in patent law.
His legal career started with K&L Gates, followed by a move to Norton Rose Fulbright.
Two years ago, Jim was excited to transition from patent litigation to patent prosecution with Marshall, Gerstein and Barron (Chicago). He was recognized as a Texas Rising Star within IP Litigation by Thomson Reuters.
While Jim had a meme handy for any occasion, his friends will most miss the ribs and other meat that he smoked in the backyard. Using that logical attorney's brain, he experimented with recipes until he landed on the perfect combination of spice, marinade, and cooking time.
His family is overwhelmed by and grateful for the love and support that sustained them during Jim's illness
