James "Jim" Watkins
August 17, 1938 – August 15, 2025

Keller, Texas - James "Jim" Lloyd Watkins went to be with our Lord on August 15, 2025,
just two days shy of his 87th birthday. Jim was a wonderful husband, father, friend and
neighbor. His children and grandchildren called him "Poppie," and he set the standard
for a loving and supportive parent. Jim was born in Hobart, Oklahoma to Dorothy Lee
and Edgar Lloyd Watkins. In his youth, he and his brother, Bill, were involved in the
family business of raising cattle and farming. Through the years, Jim shared many fond
memories of those days on the farm with his children. After graduation, he moved to the
Fort Worth area.
In 1980, Jim married Louann Abner Watkins and their blended family consisted of four
daughters and one son. Louann passed away in 2023 after a lengthy illness. Jim loved
his family dearly and the feeling was mutual. He also loved his work and enjoyed a long
career at BC Williams Bakery Service over 35 years, not retiring until he was well into
his 80s. Jim was loved by his many coworkers and stayed in touch regularly even after
retirement.
Jim will be deeply missed by friends and family. He is survived by daughters, Maikell of
Keller and Kara of Los Angeles; stepdaughter Sherri of Albuquerque; stepson Robert of
Dallas; granddaughters Stevie of Breckenridge and Taylor Rae of Keller; as well as two
great grandsons, Raylan and Luka, also of Breckenridge. In addition to his wife Louann,
those preceding him in death include his parents; brother, Dr. Bill Watkins; daughter
GayLe'; and grandson Connor.
Services will include a visitation at 1:00pm, service at 2:00pm, on September 5th, at
Roberts-Martinez Funeral Home at 4200 Denton Highway, Haltom City, Texas, 76117.
A private burial will take place at Bourland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, family suggests a donation in Jim's memory to a favorite charity.
