In Loving Memory of

James Edward Westbrock

November 25, 1944 - August 5, 2025

James, known to friends and family as "Jim," passed away peacefully at Ecumen Lakeview Commons in Maplewood, Minnesota. His son Michael was present at his passing.

Jim was born on the family farm outside of Browns Valley, MN. He graduated from Browns Valley Public School in 1962. He earned his Bachelor of Science from South Dakota State University in 1967, where he also played varsity football and wrestling.

Jim served in the United States Air Force 8th SOS from Aug 1967 – Aug 1973 as an Aircraft Maintenance Officer in Vietnam, earning a US Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service and achieving the rank of Captain. Jim loved America and was very proud of his military service.

Upon conclusion of his service, he moved to Spokane, Washington with his wife Pamela and son Michael, where he became an entrepreneur with his own tile company, Diamond J Tile. He spent 35 years as a real estate agent before retiring to Minnesota to be close to Michael.

Jim is survived by Michael, daughter-in-law Kristin, brother Leon, and sister Cecile. He is preceded in death by parents Norbert & Alma, and siblings Wayne, David, Lois and Kenneth.

Jim will be interred at Fort Snelling, Minnesota in 2026. There will be a military funeral for close family, followed by a memorial gathering for friends and family. Details to be announced.

Jim loved music, football, long walks with the family dog, and spending time with the people he loved. He lived his life by the motto "Don't ever quit."

Of all of his accomplishments, he was most proud of being a dad. When asked what his favorite year of his son Michael's life was, he responded "all of them."

Jim Westbrock, beloved father and friend, will be deeply missed.
