James J. Wiechec
Bay City, Michigan
Our beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at Healthsource in Saginaw, age 84. James was born August 31, 1938, in Bay City to the late Benedict and Lottie (Hoffman) Wiechec. He was a veteran and served his country with the US Army from 1956 to 1962. James married the love of his life Susan M. Lesniak on September 24, 1983 at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church by Fr. Ron Wagner and Susan survives him. He retired from the United States Postal Service after 27 years as a letter carrier at the main office in Bay City. James was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish-St. Stanislaus Church, former usher at church, and Past President of Parish Council and St. Stanislaus Athletic Club. He enjoyed bowling and was proud to show his State trophy for All Around bowler. He also enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers, Lions and Red Wings and was a regular at scratch-off lottery tickets and various nightly draw games. James spoiled his dogs Kashew, Poppy and Peaches but most importantly loved his family and time spent with them, especially his grandchildren.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife Susan, three daughters: Angela (Craig) Cilley, Katherine (Nicholas) Pletzke and Martha Briggs, three grandchildren: Elanore Briggs, Annabelle and Blaise Pletzke, mother-in-law Nancy Lesniak, four brothers-in-law and two sister-in-law. James was predeceased by his parents Benedict and Lottie and his father-in-law Raymond Lesniak.
The Funeral Mass for James will be held Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish-St. Stanislaus Church, 1503 Kosciuszko Ave., Bay City, MI 48708. Fr. Rick Filary will celebrate Mass and Military Honors, under the auspices of the Bay County Veterans Honor Guard and US Army will be held at church immediately after Mass. Private interment will be in St. Patrick Cemetery. Family and friends will gather at the church on Tuesday, January 3rd from 9:30 AM until the time of Mass.
