James E. Wild

In loving memory of James E. Wild (73), beloved husband, father and grandfather, who passed away unexpectedly on January 16th, 2024 at his home in Canton, Ohio.
Jim was born on April 29,1950 in Buffalo, New York. He served his country as a part of the Army 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam where he was awarded the Bronze Star. As a proud veteran, he was a member of VFW Post 9904 in Greentown, Ohio.
After returning home from serving his country, he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from the University at Buffalo and, soon after, his Professional Engineer certification. His love of numbers and acumen for civil engineering led him to a successful career in the field for almost 50 years. He was still actively working professionally up until the time of his death.
A true outdoorsman, he found peace and happiness in nature. As an avid fly fisherman, he loved spending time on the water and was a lifetime member of Trout Unlimited and a member at Sunnybrook Trout Club. He also enjoyed hiking, birding, hunting, and golfing at Oakwood Country Club where he was a member.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents Harold and Mildred Wild and his brother Gerard Wild and sister-in-law Barbara Wild. Left to cherish his memory are his adored wife, Suzanne, with whom he shared 53 years of marriage. In addition, he is survived by his children Amy Wilson (Brian) and Brian Wild (Debbie); grandchildren Emily and Evan Wilson, and Andrew, Allen and Brady Wild.
Services will be held Monday, January 22, 2024 at 12:30 PM at Faith United Methodist Church where he was a member. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM and run until time of service at the church (300 9th St. SW, North Canton, OH). Sr. Pastor Thom Kalb officiating.
