James Zane Williams Obituary
JAMES ZANE WILLIAMS, 85, died in the early morning hours on Friday, March 21, 2025. Born on the family homestead on Ridge Road, Whiteford, MD, Jimmy spent his entire lifetime in his original home. Actually, he only left the local community once to ride along with the late Alan Morris on a long distance trucking trip delivering potatoes to Florida. Jimmy graduated from North Harford High School in 1958 where he was a member of the FFA and worked for the Highway Division of Harford County Government for 34 years, retiring in 2002. During the 70's – 80's, he operated a scrap metal business with some neighbors, The Coopers.
Jimmy was known for his hand-signed Christmas cards that he sent every year and his nieces, nephews as well as their family members received Christmas and birthday cards with a little cash tucked inside. He loved to attend pizza parties on Fridays with the Glackins and was known to take candy, cookies, and fresh fruit to the employees at the local M&T Bank in Delta. Jimmy was a regular at the Delta Family Restaurant where he enjoyed what he called" The Delicious Seafood Bisque" soup and socialized with everyone. Jimmy was a longtime member of the former Delta United Methodist Church.
Jimmy was an avid outdoorsman who loved to go deer hunting. He cherished his "babies" his Chevrolet Cobalt and the Blue Silverado Chevrolet Pickup. Jimmy was loved by his family as well as his community with the most contagious smiles, kind spirit and how he brought joy to everyone, even people he just met. Most of all, it is his gentle kind spirit that will be missed the most. The Whiteford/Delta communities lost a treasure on Friday, the 21st of March.
