James Ernest "Jim" Witcher

Mr. James E Witcher, 79 of Newnan, GA passed away Wednesday October 8, 2025 at Grady Hospital. He was born February 26, 1946 in Sargent, GA to the late Garland Sims Witcher Sr. and Mary Traylor Witcher.
Jim will be dearly missed by his family and friends. His family was his pride and joy and his greatest role in life was being a father and granddaddy to his grandchildren. He showed unconditional love to his family and always made sure to say I Love You whenever he spoke to you. He was a person you could count on and didn't hesitate to help anyone in need. He provided many toys through the years to children who might not have had any for Christmas. His long in depth talks to his children will be cherished memories forever.
Jim grew up in Sargent, GA and moved with his parents to Newnan, GA. The home on Hollis Heights was their family home for over 50 years. This is where Jim learned so many values, leading him to take on a strong leadership role with his family and in business. Jim was proud of his service as a Marine. He obtained special medals in expert rifle & handguns which led him to be a sharpshooter instructor. He also served in Vietnam. He after his military career, he moved to Atlanta, GA where he was a police officer with the City of Atlanta. In 1983, he moved his family to Newnan, GA. He was the owner of Witcher Auto Sales and then decided to become a realtor with Parks & Mottola.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Kathleen Zaske Witcher of Newnan, GA; son Brian J. Witcher (Sheri) of Panama City Beach, FL ; daughter Ashley Wendel (Danny) of Newnan, GA; brother Garland Sims Witcher, Jr. of Newnan, GA; grandchildren, Brandon (Darby) Witcher of Carrolton, GA, Brittany Witcher of Atlanta, GA, Grace Wendel of Newnan, GA and Caroline Wendel of Newnan, GA.; along with a nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday October 26th at The Barn at Deerfield 166 Deerfield Rd. Hogansville, GA 30230 at 2pm. All are welcome to attend.
