James Alexander Zickmund
December 3, 1957-May 30, 2025
James Alexander Zickmund, 67, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Friday, May 30, 2025 at Northwest Health-La Porte, IN.
He was born December 3, 1957 in Gary, Indiana, the son of Richard Zickmund and Patricia (Little) Zickmund, both who preceded him in death.
A lifelong resident of the area, James graduated from Westville High, class of 1976, and joined the IBEW Electrical Union Local 531, where he went to trade school and continued his career with them. On August 7, 1993, in La Porte, James married Patricia Ann McCoy and together they created a wonderful life. James was a musician who played guitar, sax and sang for Cosmic Blues and Prime Time. While he favored classic rock, he and the band often played at weddings and events which required a more eclectic sound. James enjoyed being outdoors, and loved the lake, boating and especially, fishing. He went camping with his family, and watched NASCAR, especially Tony Stewart, with his beloved wife. When he wasn't doing renovations and other activities, James was relaxing at home, watching old classic westerns or war movies. A man of many talents, he will be missed by all he knew.
James is survived by his wife of 31 years, Patti; his son, James Anthony (Nicole Ann Conner) Zickmund of McCordsville, IN; daughter, Kaitlyn Sue (Dylan Gottman) Zickmund of Michigan City, IN; sister, Susan (Klaus Bieleseldt) Zickmund of Salt Lake City, UT; two grandchildren, Robbie Conner, Jaxson Conner; two nephews, Tobias and Sebastian.
