Jamie B. Castaneda (age 66) passed away peacefully on July 11, 2025 in her home in Mesquite, Texas. She was born on August 19, 1958 in Houston, Texas to Elzie and Leavern Buck. Elzie was a carpenter and Leavern was a home maker.
Jamie married Miguel Castaneda on May 4, 1981 in Bryan, Texas. In 1992 Jamie and her family, which included their 4-year-old son Thomas and 2-year-old daughter April, moved to Dallas, Texas.
She loved working with kids and obtained a paraprofessional certificate through the Mesquite school system. Jamie had a 17-year teaching career working for Mesquite ISD and Garland ISD. She also taught primary children at church for many years and blessed many young lives. Jamie was happiest when she was serving people.
Jamie was proceeded in death by her brother, Danny Buck. She is survived by her devoted husband Miguel, her beloved children Thomas and April and grandchildren Kaden, Ezekiel, Luna, and Leo, all of whom loved dearly and of whom she was so proud. She is also survived by her sister Virginia Sherer, Kathy Weeks, Shirley McGovern, June Wilkinson, Mary Loscuito, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and others whose lives Jamie touched and enriched.
