Lucy N. Charo was born Aug. 18, 1937. After 88 years of loving family devotion, she departed this life on Sept. 8,2025.

Lucy was born to Jesus and Ofelia Nerios on August 18, 1937, in George West, TX. As a young child her family moved to Seagraves, TX. Growing up, she had 2 brothers, and 7 sisters. Lucy was the 2nd oldest of her siblings. It was there in Seagraves, TX, years later that she met the love of her life, Pete M. Charo. Together they moved to Brownfield and began their own family. They had 3 children; Tom (Tish) Charo of OK, Cynthia (Jerry) Muniz and Norma (Paul Deceased) Brock of TX; 3 grandchildren; Roger (Erica) Charo, Evonne (Chris) Contreras, Shane (Posh) Charo all from TX; and 6 great grandchildren, Eliya Charo of Fl, Joshua and Elijah Garcia, Lucie Rodriguez, Alex Charo and Anayeli Contreras all from TX. Pete and Lucy were happily married for 63 wonderful, loving years till his departure in 2019. Lucy was a homemaker for many years, dedicating her time to raise their children, to which she then found her calling years later to begin teaching.

She taught Special Education for many years and then in 1980 Lucy became a certified teacher's aide III for the Brownfield school system where she worked for many years until she retired in 1993.

Lucy was an avid Young and the Restless fan, she had many talents ranging from cooking, baking, sewing, crafting, gardening, coloring and drawing. She loved hosting holiday dinners and having family gather to create memories. Lucy was a firm believer of God and her husband and her held their daily devotionals in their home.

We would like to take this time to thank: Dr. Mundluru, Dr. Joseph, Alinea Family Hospice Care, especially the nurses Shalawn, Coco, Breanna and Brittany who took such good care of our mother. Social worker Courtney and Pastor Kevin.

Lucy is survived by her 3 children; Tom, Cynthia and Norma; 3 grandchildren, Roger, Shane and Evonne (her only granddaughter); 6 great grandchildren Eliya Charo, Joshua Garcia, Elijah Garcia, Lucie Rodriguez, Alex Charo, and Anayeli Contreras; and siblings Emma Lytle, Rosa Casas, Connie Hernandez, Chelo White, and Josie Nerios.

Lucy is preceded in death by her loving husband Pete M. Charo; parents, Jesus and Ofelia Nerios; 2 brothers, Jessie and Frank Nerios; 2 sisters, Tonia Nerios, Eva (Hernandez) Johnson and son-in-law Paul E. Brock.
