Rey Charo
Bay City, Michigan
Rey Charo, a man of generosity, courage, and passion, departed from this world on January 16, 2025, in his hometown of Bay City, Michigan, at the age of 65. Born on May 11, 1959, also in Bay City, Rey's life was a testament to the bonds of family, the joy of the outdoors, and the unconditional love between a man and his dogs.
Rey's legacy is carried on by his adoring family, including his children Rey "RJ" Junior and wife Melissa, Monica wife Carol, Andrea and her husband Freddie, Michael and his wife Kelsey, and Nickolas and his wife Madison. His love of his life Becky. His grandchildren Dylan, with Emma and Stephanie, Emma, Jordan and Marciano, Mackenzie-Rae and Raeleanna, Jerzie, Martin, Cannia, Karly, Valentina, Maysen, Michael Jr., Heartlea, Dawson, and Scarlet, will forever cherish their memories with him. Rey was also a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews, holding especially close bonds with Amy, Michael D, Hollywood, Maria, and Vinny.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Refugio and Florentina Charo. Rey's life was further enriched by the love and companionship of his siblings Rose Oviedo, Danny and his wife Lori Charo, Florentino "Ernest" Charo, Refugio "Mikey" Charo Jr. and Teresa and her husband John Robinson, who will continue to honor his memory.
Rey's zest for life was evident in his favorite pastimes. He found solace and delight in grabbing his fishing poles, taking his beloved dogs Opie, Jackson, and Libby, and heading to the river to fish all day. There, surrounded by the beauty of nature, he would watch the sunset, reflecting on the tranquility and beauty of the world.
Those fortunate enough to have known Rey would describe him as a man whose heart was as vast as the ocean he loved to gaze upon. His generosity knew no bounds, as he was always the first to lend a hand or offer support to those in need. His courage was evident not only in the way he faced life's challenges but also in the way he inspired others to rise above their own. Rey's passion was felt in every endeavor he pursued, and his infectious enthusiasm was a light that brightened the lives of all around him.
Rey's life was a journey of joy, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to his loved ones. His presence will be profoundly missed, yet the memories he created will continue to bring warmth and comfort to all who were privileged to be part of his story.
Family would like to thank the Guidroz family a special friend he held close to his heart.
As Rey Charo is laid to rest, we celebrate a life well-lived, a journey well-traveled, and a legacy that will continue to echo through the generations. His spirit, now free like the rivers he cherished, will forever flow in the hearts of his family and friends.
