Jamie Lynn Hamilton Clark passed away on May 27, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Jamie was born on January 13, 1971, to Rodney Harrell Hamilton and Sandra Lee Geiger, in Denver, Colorado. Jamie grew up in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Jamie attended St. Theresa's Catholic School from kindergarten through 8th grade, and graduated from high school at Parkview Magnet School. Jamie attended the Art Institute of Dallas in Dallas, Texas, and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
Jamie moved to the Washington, D.C. area, after college, and worked there for several years in the dental industry before moving on to the Atlanta area, where she worked for many years in the corporate sector. Corporate burn-out then led her in another direction – which was her four legged friends. They were always the passion of her life. From the time Jamie was a baby, she always preferred animals – no dolls for her. For the first 6 years of her life she vowed she was going to marry her cat, Tinker Bell, and throughout her life somehow cats and dogs needing a home would find their way to her house. She never turned a stray animal away.
Some people journey through life leaving unforgettable footprints of kindness and love, courage and compassion, joy and faith. Even when they are gone, the trail they have left behind continues to inspire us. Jamie was one of these people. Once she left the stress of the corporate world and moved to Deaton Creek, she started a business walking and caring for many of the cats and dogs in the neighborhood. Most days Jamie walked over 20,000 steps as she walked her "clients" over the trails. She said the job was such a pleasure – just happy wagging tails. Jamie took many, many pictures of the dogs and cats she cared for, and sent them to their owners with clever captions that captured the moment of the picture, which was always appreciated.
God had two final missions for Jamie. The first mission was to help take care of her ailing father, who had Parkinson's Disease, especially in the last year and a half of his life, as his health declined, and the second mission two months after the death of her father, was to care for her mother after a life threatening illness.
Jamie was an avid book reader, and had an extensive library of great books that she kept her family supplied with. It wasn't necessary for us to ever go to the library or purchase a book. Jamie was also a gourmet cook, and over the years made many, many wonderful meals for her family. She had a special talent for bread making, and her rosemary bread was a special treat that the family loved. She was a fantastic gift giver, and she loved being in charge of the trivia games for birthdays and holidays, and with her quick wit, always made us laugh.
Through her business, she met many lovely people in Deaton Creek, and it has been so gratifying to hear how very loved she was, and how much she will be missed by both people and pets.
Jamie was preceded in death by her father, Rodney Hamilton. Survivors include her mother, Sandy Hamilton, sisters Kelly Freeman and Mary Tasker (Eric Michener), brothers Howard Hamilton (Cathie), Mark Hamilton (Lesley), nieces Katherine, Elizabeth and Anna Freeman, nephews Jack Freeman, Daniel Tasker (Melisa), David Tasker, Ryan Hamilton, and her beloved pets, Emily and BeeZee.
Jamie always had a candle burning in her house, and this poem describes the essence of her life.
A candle's but a simple thing
It starts with just a bit of string
But dipped and dipped with patient hand
It gathers wax upon the strand
Until complete and snowy white
It gives at last a lovely light
Life seems so like that bit of string
Each deed we do a simple thing
Yet day by day if on life's strand
We work with patient heart and hand
It gathers joy, makes dark days bright
And gives at last a lovely light
Jamie's light is now shining very brightly in Heaven, where she is in the arms of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Rest in peace, Sweet Sweet Child of God.
Jamie was a very private person, and to honor Jamie's wishes, the family will be holding graveside services.
