Jamie Sue, daughter of the late Jimmie Earl and Georgia Mae (Drake) Jameson, was born on June 13, 1946 in Blackwell, Oklahoma. Jamie passed away on Thanksgiving Day, 2023, in Norman, Oklahoma, surrounded by her family.
She graduated from Enid High School in 1965. On January 18, 1992, she married the love of her life, Wayne LaMunyon. They made their first home in Enid, Oklahoma, where she owned and operated JL Marketing. She was the owner of the NIFL team, Oklahoma Crude, whose games were played at the Garfield County EXPO Center and throughout the Midwest. Jamie was instrumental in planning and promoting the community response rally in 1995 when the BRAC Commission visited for the possible closure of Vance Air Force Base, with over 12,000 Enid and Northwest Oklahoma residents appearing to show their support. This massive community support was credited as a factor in the retention of Vance Air Force.
Jamie also organized the Pride of America Rally a month after 9/11 at the David Allen Ballpark in Enid, with the greatest attendance record ever recorded that day at the venue.
Wayne and Jamie moved to Waynoka in 2004 where she fed the entire town at Miss Jamie's Lunch Counter for close to twenty years. She loved, and was loved by the entire city, and Duners from all over the region.
Jamie was involved in organizations including: PEO, Junior League, Ambucs, and League Ladies. Jamie volunteered, put together and helped plan and implement many of the holiday parades and festivals in Waynoka.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Wayne LaMunyon, and her sister Cindi Broaddus.
Jamie is survived by her daughters Jill Michelle Kennedy and her husband, Bryce, of Norman, and Jennifer Brooke Gurwell of Aiea, Hawaii; son Griff Jameson Gurwell and his wife, Sharon, of Kansas City, Kansas; seven grandchildren, Nicholas Butler, Tyler LaMunyon, Daniel Gurwell, Stewart Kennedy and wife Taylor, Natalie Kennedy, John Jae Happy Camp, and Madison Camp; six great grandchildren; her brother Roger Jameson; her sisters, Karen Branch and her husband, Jackie, of Comanche, and Robin McGraw and her husband, Phil, of Los Angeles, California; many other family members and friends.
