Jamie Dee Lockridge, 65, of
Pampa, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on April 23, 1959, to Christal and Jacqueline Lowe, Jamie was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, and friend who touched many lives with her kindness and generosity.
Jamie graduated from Long Beach Polytechnic High School in California in 1976, a year early. Shortly thereafter, in 1977, the family moved back to Pampa. Jamie held several positions throughout her career, showcasing her versatility and dedication. She initially worked as a dispatcher for the Pampa Police Department, demonstrating her ability to handle high-pressure situations. She then took on the role of an administrative assistant at JC Penney, where her organizational skills and attention to detail shone through.
After starting a family, Jamie chose to devote herself to being a mother to her two children, Lori and Christopher. She stayed home with the kids for several years, providing them with unwavering support and love. When she re-entered the workforce, Jamie joined the Pampa Regional Hospital, initially working in the ER registration office. Her dedication saw her move to the business office and eventually to department secretary in X-Ray. Unfortunately, due to her health, Jamie had to step back from work, and her presence in the workplace was immensely missed.
Jamie was a creative and crafty soul. She enjoyed making cards, a testament to her patience and artistic talent. Traveling with her cousin Linda, attending craft shows, and exploring flea markets were some of her favorite pastimes. Even when her disabilities prevented her from going out, Jamie's passion for shopping never waned; she continued to shop online, always finding joy in the little things.
Jamie also had an entrepreneurial spirit. She made additional income by selling Avon products and created beautifully decorated cakes for special orders. Her cakes were a delight to many, reflecting her creativity and attention to detail. In her teenage years, Jamie was involved with Rainbow Girls, an organization that instilled values of leadership and community service. She continued her dedication by participating in the Order of Eastern Star Pampa Chapter, where she served as Worthy Matron on multiple occasions. Even after the Pampa chapter merged with the Amarillo chapter, Jamie remained active until her health no longer permitted.
As a single mother, Jamie was fiercely devoted to her children. She may have been a bit of a helicopter mom, but this was only because of her immense love for Lori and Christopher. She was thoughtful and considerate, always putting her their needs first and supporting them in all their endeavors, encouraging them to pursue their passions and interests. Her involvement extended to being an assistant Girl Scout troop leader when Lori was a scout. Jamie's love for animals was also evident; she allowed her children to keep and raise any stray animals they brought home, each one becoming a cherished member of the family.
Jamie was described as extremely stubborn and set in her ways, but she had a heart of gold. She was always thinking of and wanting to do for others, even when she herself didn't have the means. Her kindness, thoughtfulness, and selflessness will be greatly missed.
Those who anxiously awaited her arrival in heaven include her parents, Christal and Jacqueline Lowe; grandparents, Helen and Cecil Holmes; and a dear cousin, Linda Smith.
Her deep love and true stubbornness will forever be remembered by her two children, Lori Lockridge of Amarillo and Christopher Lockridge of Denver; her brother, Cary Lowe, and wife Danett of Amarillo; nephews, Josh Lowe and partner Samantha of Amarillo, and Jared Lowe and wife Mariana of Chicago; niece, Britni, and husband Dustin of Amarillo. Jamie also leaves very special friends who have remained by her side for years, including Gale Tobin, Lisa Stroud, Gail Keating, and Kimberly Moore. Additionally, she is survived by an array of extended family members who will mourn her loss.
A Celebration of Life Memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at Redeemer Church, with Pastor Jeremy Buck officiating. The Order of Eastern Star Amarillo Chapter will present Funeral Rites. The family has entrusted Winegeart Funeral Home with Jamie's cremation care.
