Mr. Jan Austin Johnson, age 73, passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born on September 5, 1951, in Mullins, South Carolina, he was the son of Doris Clemons Johnson and the late Maryland Johnson. Mr. Johnson was a farmer and loved working in his garden.
Survivors, including his mother, are his loving wife, Gayle Johnson; sons, Daniel Johnson, Jan Austin Johnson, Jr. (Lori), and Andrew Johnson; grandchildren, Lexi Barnhill (Keith), Chase Johnson, Ashlyn Johnson, Lili Johnson, Ellie Johnson, and Esme Johnson; great-grandchildren, Starr Annabelle Barnhill, Jessie Barnhill, and Alayna Barnhill; brother, John O. Johnson (Freda); sister, Judy Lynn Johnson; nephew, Ryan Johnson; nieces, Lindsey Johnson and Caroline Johnson (Matt) and a great nephew, Waylon Vann.
In addition to his father, Mr. Johnson was predeceased by his nephew, Matthew Porter Johnson.
The Johnson family would like to extend a heartfelt, "Thank You." to McLeod Loris, McLeod Seacoast, and McLeod Hospice for their tremendous care and support during this difficult time.
Memorial visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 PM on Friday, April 11, 2025, at Hardwick Funeral Home. Friends and family are invited to gather on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at 4:00 PM for a cookout and remembrance celebration at the farm located at 519 Hulls Island Road, Loris, SC 29569. In lieu of flowers the family requests that you extend a random act of kindness to another person in remembrance of Jan.
