There's a shortage of angels in Heaven as God is recruiting new ones from here every day.

On September 5, 2025, Jan Kline was relieved of her pain and suffering to be with the love of her life, Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior.

Jan Kline was born June 13, 1936 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. From there she moved to Fort Worth, Texas where she lived her young years. She was a cheerleader at Arlington Heights High School and later at TCU (Texas Christian University) where she graduated from in 1959.

During her high school days, she went on a date with her cousin, and her cousins' date, Robert Oswald. Robert's little brother went along, though he was not Jan's date, just a tag-a-long. His name was Lee Harvey Oswald. (Not sure what became of him.)

After graduating from TCU Jan taught speech therapy for two years, and 1st thru 5th grade for the next 35 years.

Jan taught piano and sang in the church choir throughout those years.

From her central location, Faraday Place, Jan organized and led the annual Pine Glen Fourth of July Parade and festivities that continued for decades; even after she moved from that home.

Jan brought her TCU team support to her role as a Pangborn Alta Tennis team member for many years, after she hung up her racquet as an excellent player.

She was positive and optimistic about everything. Her faith, hope, and, love of God was never more apparent than in recent years when she battled cancer and injuries that she suffered in a 2024 fire that destroyed her longtime home. She was always positive, upbeat, and grateful for her many blessings.

She loved everyone she knew and never saw any bad or negative in any person. She loved romantic movies, any food that she was eating at the time, upbeat happy music, and greeting cards that anyone sent.

But above all, she loved God, her church, her children, and her husband. She read her Bible everyday and prayed each night, but not for herself, but for others that were in need, or having difficult times. Maybe God just got tired of listening to her, and wanted her there in person.

Some candles burn bright but not for long. Others glow longer, but do not glow as bright. Jan Kline burned magnificently bright, lighting up wherever she was for 89 wonderful years. She will be remembered by many, but missed by many more.

Jan is survived by her daughter D'Lynn O'Conner, grandson Shane Kirkland, granddaughter Jordan O'Conner, and her loving husband, Alan.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 4, 2025 at 1:00 PM at University Heights Methodist Church, 1267 Balsam Drive Decatur, GA 30033.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to UHUMC in memory and love of Jan Kline.
