Jan M. Pickering

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Jan M. Pickering, who passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on September 13, 2024. Born to the late Charles and Grace Pickering on December 3, 1953, Jan's memory will always be cherished by those who knew and loved him.
Jan is survived by his beloved wife of 20 years, Judith Walker Pickering, his children Stacey Pickering (Brad), Matthew Pickering (Rachel), Stephen Homenuk (Melissa), along with his stepson Paul Walker (Sarah), and grandchildren Madeline, Hazel Anne, Jayden, and Caleb. He will be fondly remembered by his siblings and their families; Sherry Mikuluk (Chip), Chuck Pickering, Eric Pickering, David Pickering (Mitzie) and Mark Dodge. He was preceded in death by his brother Paul Pickering and sister Angela Pickering.
Known for his love of movies, museums, gardens, and zoos, Jan had a passion for nature, travel and adventure. He adored spending time in parks and by the lake with his children and wife, creating treasured memories with his family. Always putting his loved ones first, Jan had an endearing spirit that led him to make fast friends wherever he went, including the neighborhood wildlife who visited him in his final moments.
Despite facing challenges while battling ALS, Jan approached life with unparalleled courage and fought valiantly until his last breath. His zest for life and unwavering love for his family will forever remain in our hearts.
The visitation for Jan will take place on Sunday, October 13, 2024, from 12 pm until 4 pm at Monreal Srnick Funeral Home, located at 35400 Curtis Blvd, Eastlake. Following the visitation, a Funeral Service celebrating his remarkable life will commence at 4 pm at the same location.
