Jan Sulima Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Michaels Funeral Home and Cremation Care on Jan. 9, 2026.
Jan Sulima
Resident of Elk Grove Village for 14 years
Formerly of Mt. Prospect and Tarnow, Poland
Visitation for Jan Sulima, 63, will be Friday, January 9 from 5:00pm – 8:00pm at Michaels Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 800 S. Roselle Road, Schaumburg. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, January 10 beginning at 10:30am at St. Peter Damian Catholic Church, 131 S Crest Ave, Barlett. Interment to follow at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine.
Jan was born January 1, 1963 in Poland, and he peacefully passed away January 7, 2026 at home in Elk Grove Village, Illinois after over 3 years of fighting glioblastoma.
Jan had a deep love for travel and adventure, especially enjoying time spent in Wyoming, Utah and Arizona, as well as closer-to-home favorites like Door County and Silver Lake, Michigan. He carried a strong work ethic throughout his life, having served as a driver's license instructor in Poland, where he was known for his patience and dedication. A true handyman and
exceptionally talented remodeler, Jan took great pride in his work. He lovingly completed countless projects for his daughters and friends, always willing to lend his skills, time, and care to make their homes more beautiful. His generosity, craftsmanship, and willingness to help others will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Beloved husband of 42 years of Ewa; loving father of Anna and Tomasz; cherished grandfather of Emily and Sara Jagielski; adored brother of Andrzej, Jerzy, Jadwiga, and Jolanta; dear uncle to many nieces and nephews; dear friend and neighbor to many, especially Agnieszka, Wesley, Marta, and Andrew.
