Jan Thacker Ross Timmerberg, 80, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2025, at the ET York Hospice Care Center in Gainesville, Florida.

Jan was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life, Robert L. "Bob"Timmerberg and her parents, Earl Thacker Ross & Marcella Tracy Ross. She is survived by her children, Tara (Paul) Sapp, Erin (Dallas) Mattox, Jeff (Kelly) Timmerberg, Jennifer Timmerberg; grandchildren, Jessica Miles, Alex(Brittany) Miles, Austin (Kacey) Mattox, David Mattox, Emma Mattox, Owen Jaeger, Griffin Jaeger, Alex Timmerberg and Adam Timmerberg; one great-granddaughter, Jordan; her sister, Marcelee Dorman, along with many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.

Jan was a Florida girl through and through. She was born in Jacksonville and grew up in Miami and attended Immaculata Academy She briefly attended the University of Florida, where her lifelong love of all things Gator first began.

In her early years, Jan worked as a legal secretary for several successful attorneys before becoming a realtor. She was an enthusiastic Girl Scout mom, accompanying her daughters on multiple camping adventures throughout Florida and on long-distance trips to North Carolina and Tennessee.

Jan married Bob in 1990. They built a life filled with travel, laughter, and shared adventures. During this time she worked at the UAA at the University of Florida, later becoming the event coordinator at the Hilton Hotel in Gainesville, where she remained until her retirement.

She had a deep love for her dogs and horses, having many of each over the years, and even a few cats. In retirement, she found joy in her yard, cultivating the landscape into her own gardener's paradise. Jan loved the water in all its forms: the ocean, the Gulf, and the crystal-clear springs of the Ichetucknee and Crystal River were particular favorites.

Her family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Ayer's Health and Rehabilitation in Trenton, Florida. Jan spent her final three years as a resident there, and the staff of the Garden Gate memory unit showed true care, kindness, and patience every step of the way. A special thank you goes to them for welcoming Bob as an "unofficial" resident. He was by Janny's side sometimes five days a week, and they lovingly put up with his many shenanigans!

The family also wishes to thank the staff at Haven Hospice, including the Chiefland Care Team who supported Jan at Ayer's, and the staff at ET York in Gainesville. In particular, they are grateful for the nurses and staff who cared for Room #26 when both Bob and Jan were there a short 6 1/2 weeks apart. Your compassion for them, and for us, will never be forgotten.

Rest peacefully, Jan, reunited with Bob, the love of your life, where your story continues in a place of joy and light.

Yesterday

We just wanted to express our love for Jan. We met Jan when she became an employee of UAA. Being a Bull Gator and having Jan as a friend meant fun times and fun trips. Jan was truly a friend and we remember her meeting a "Yankee" named Bob. We finally got to meet Bob and he wasn´t a bad "Yankee"! We knew the minute we met him he was her person. We shared many memories with them both. We are glad they are back together in a beautiful place. Our heart felt condolences to the family. Fred and Debbie Pruitt
