Jan Blurton Walz, 64, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2025 surrounded by her close family.
Born, July 16, 1960, she was the daughter of the late Terrance Dwayne Blurton and Robbie Sue Ferguson Holt. In addition to her father, she was also preceded in death by her beloved grandparents, Charles Wesley and Maud Forsythe Ferguson, uncles, Roy Charles and Clarence Ferguson as well as her aunts, Evelyn Lindsey Webb and Ann Ferguson Worrell.
Jan was a vibrant, witty woman-never one to hold back her opinion, and always ready with a clever remark or a laugh. She was a devoted daughter, a loving mother and sister, a cherished Mimi, and a fiercely loyal wife. Her family was everything to her, and she showed up for them in every way that mattered.
A woman of deep faith, Jan found strength, purpose, and community through her love of the church. Her belief in grace and service guided the way she lived and loved.
A gifted and accomplished fiber artist, she specialized in weaving and the lost art of bobbin lace. She was an active member of several weaving groups, where she shared not only her craft but her warmth and friendship.
Her creativity, strength, and sense of humor left a lasting impression on everyone lucky enough to know her. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her-and remembered always for the light she brought into our lives.
Left to cherish Jan's memory are her husband, Kevin Walz; mother and stepfather, Robbie Sue Holt and John Holt; daughter, Leslie Brooks; brothers, David Blurton (Patti) and Mike Blurton (Wanda); granddaughters, Olivia Robyn Brooks and Hadley Anne Stepp; along with many other cherished extended family members and friends.
Smoky Mountain Cremations and Funeral Service of Maggie Valley is caring for the family, and the online register is available at www.smokymountaincremations.com.
