Jane Hines Ashby

Jane Hines Ashby passed away peacefully at Trinity Elms Assisted Living late Tuesday evening, December 23, 2025, the night when her family always gathered to celebrate Christmas through the years. Jane lived a very full and joyful life, surrounded by her family in Midway, NC. She was very proud to have celebrated her 95th birthday this past September. Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Paul H. and Ora Clodfelter Hines, her beloved husband of 69 years, Elmer Ree Ashby, her cherished son, Bobby Ree Ashby, and her brothers, Rockford, Frank, Richard, and Jay. Jane is survived by her devoted son, Lonnie Jay Ashby and his wife, Betty, and by her daughter-in-law, Roseanne Ashby. She leaves behind seven loving grandchildren, Chad, Mark, Laura, Ben, Candie, Ginger, and Kadi, and 17 great grandchildren. She is also survived by a treasured sister, Pearl Hines Smith, a sister-in-law, Betty Hines, and many special nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11am on Wednesday, December 31, at Canaan United Methodist Church with Pastor Jay Bowers officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
