Joann "Porter" Ashby

Joann Porter Ashby, 71, of Hartford, Kentucky passed away Sunday, February 22, 2026, surrounded by her family at her home. She was born October 3, 1954, in Greenville, Kentucky to the late Herman H. Porter and Ruby Abbott Porter. Many know Joann from her many years working at Freds.

Aside from her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Helen Gardner and grandson-in-law, Cody Carlisle.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband of twenty-four years, John T. Ashby of Hartford; children, Bryan (Kristina) Bechtel of Morgantown, Camisha (Jeremy) Payton of Baizetown, Susie (Davey) Mills of Owensboro, John David (Jevetta) Ashby of Horton and Jeff Ashby of Hartford; eleven grandchildren, six great grandchildren; siblings, Carrie Ruth Darmond of Shepherdsville, Jeanetta (Roger) Nance of Dixon, Walter (Carolyn) Porter of Beaver Dam and Keith (Linda) Porter of Beaver Dam as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Thursday, February 26, 2026, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, Kentucky with Rev. Bruce Lindsey and Rev. Jerry Alexander officiating. Burial will follow in Cool Spring Cemetery. Friends may visit from 10 AM until the time of the service Thursday at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Ohio County and DaVita Dialysis Center for the care they provided to Joann.
