Jane Benner Obituary
Jane Evelyn Book Benner, age 94, of Chambersburg, PA passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2023, at Brookview at Menno Haven. Born October 11, 1929, in Mifflintown, PA, she was the daughter of the late William H. and Melissa Hackenberger Book.
Mrs. Benner was a 1948 graduate of Thompsontown High School. On April 16, 1949, she married Wilbur W. Benner. Over the years, she served alongside her husband in his ministry in churches in PA, MD, KY, FL, and Canada as leader of Children's ministries. She also conducted numerous children's camps at Roxbury, PA and West Milton, OH. Mrs. Benner was a life-long member of the Brethren in Christ Churches
Surviving are two children, Loreen Thrush (husband Daryl) of Chambersburg, PA and Kevin P. Benner of McConnellsburg, PA; six grandchildren, Travis, Trenton, Trevor, and Halleigh Benner and Kelsey and Kurtis Thrush; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Benner and Iva Book. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Rev. Wilbur W. Benner in 2020 and two brothers and four sisters.
Services and interment will be private. Arrangements are entrusted to the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc., Greencastle, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Menno Haven Benevolent Fund, 2011 Scotland Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
