Audrey J. Clopper, age 84, of Greencastle, PA passed away on Friday, January 23, 2026, at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, MD. Born in Chambersburg, PA, on February 3, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Ada Horst Eshelman, Sr.
Mrs. Clopper was the owner/operator of the former Sunny Way Diner in Greencastle for over 67 years. Paul then helped her in 1984 after his retirement. She began working at the diner in 1955, when it opened and became the owner in 1969 until it’s closure in June of 2022. She was a member of the VFW and American Legion Auxiliary in Greencastle.
Surviving is her husband of 38 years, Paul F. Clopper, whom she married in 1987; three children, Diane S. Fitz (husband Steve) of Fairfield, PA, Tamela R. Wright (husband Mike) of Ruther Glen, VA, and Bryan R. Williams (wife Shawna) of Greencastle, PA; six grandchildren, Brandon, Kall, Allison, Susan, Sophia, and Tristan; three great grandchildren; two siblings, Margaret Martin of Greencastle, PA and Carl Eshelman (wife Dorothy) of Greencastle, PA; and her furry friend, Corey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepson, Jeff Clopper and brothers, Charles “Sonny” Eshelman, Jr. and Donald “Don” Eshelman.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026, at 11 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1186 Jason Dr., Greencastle, PA, where Pastor Denise Horn will officiate. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 29, 2026, from 5 – 8 PM in the Harold M. Zimmerman and son Funeral Home, Inc., 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, PA and on Friday, January 30 one hour prior to the service at the church above. Interment will follow the service in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown, MD. A future celebration of Audrey’s life will be held at later date in Greencastle. Online condolences may be offered on her page at www.zimmermanfh.com.
