Jane Stuart Carter, 71, passed away January 29, 2026 at Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.
Jane was born on January 22, 1955 in Cleveland, Ohio to Arthur Haseltine Carter and Mary-Jessie Nash. She was the fifth of six children. Jane was raised in Shaker Heights Ohio, Upper St. Clair, Pennsylvania and Green Lake, Wisconsin. She graduated from Green Lake High School in 1973 and earned a Bachelor's Degree from Colorado Women's College in 1977. She earned an MBA from the University of Colorado Denver. Jane stayed in Denver and worked in business until returning to Green Lake in 1996.
Jane grew up in the Episcopal Church and was active in her church in Denver and at St. Paul's Plymouth and St. Paul’s Cathedral in Fond du Lac where she taught Sunday School and served in many lay ministry roles. Jane suffered with diabetes and kidney disease for many years and volunteered for many various fund-raising events. She was the recipient of two kidney transplants and an advocate for organ donation. She was fond of animals and raised many cats and volunteered at various Humane Societies. Doing jigsaw puzzles and Sudoku games was another passion of Jane's.
Jane is survived by her siblings, Nancy Carter Kuhn and David Nash (Nancy) Carter; brothers-in-law, Andrew Peter Fleming and Richard Eager; and special family friend, Mary Frazier; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Also, cousins and many, many friends of all ages. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Mary-Jessie Carter; siblings, Sally (Sarah) Carter Fleming, Anne Haseltine Carter, Mary Carter Eager, and Edwin Kuhn.
Memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association or the National Kidney Foundation.
The visitation will be held Wednesday, February 4, 2026 from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at St. Paul’s Cathedral, 51 W Division Street, Fond du Lac with Rev. Micheal Hackbarth officiating. The memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM on Wednesday at church. A reception will follow and inurnment will be held at St. Paul’s Cathedral at a later date.
