Jane Anne Chatman, 61, of Canton passed away at Mercy Hospital surrounded by family and friends on Friday, January 16th. Born on March 21st, 1964 in Canton, to the late Floyd and Ann (Padgett) Steiner. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her brother Floyd Steiner Jr. and sister Erica Riehl. Jane had a deep love for lavender flowers, finding comfort and beauty in their calming scent and soft purple hue. Jane enjoyed playing computer games, where her curiosity, patience, and playful spirit could shine. She loved winding down by watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy!, rarely missing an episode. Jane also enjoyed cats, cherishing their independence and companionship, and never missed a chance to stop and admire one. Few things made her smile more than a banana popsicle, a small joy she never outgrew and happily savored. She will be remembered in lavender fields, in the soft purr of a cat, in the glow of a computer screen, and in the sweetness of a simple treat on a warm day. Survived by her loving husband of 29 years, Steve Chatman; son Michael (Carmen) Hartman of New Orleans; 2 stepdaughters Stephanie (Reginald) Moore, Katherine Chatman; 3 stepsons Stevie Chatman Jr., Jason Chatman, Victor (Victoria) Chatman; beloved brother Stanley (Kathy) Steiner; 11 granddaughters; 8 grandsons; 3 great-grandsons; as well as other loving family members and friends. A memorial service will be held in the Waltner-Simchak Funeral Home on Friday, January 23rd at 5pm. Family and friends may call one hour prior.
