Mary Jane Christiansen, lovingly known as Jane, age 88, went to be home with the Lord on March 9th, 2025. Jane was born in Nashville, TN, on December 11th, 1936. She was the daughter of the late Novella and Gordon Tanksley. She is also preceded in death by her brothers Roy and Gordon Tanksley. Jane is reunited in heaven with her husband of 69 years Maurice Roland Christiansen. She is survived by her children Johnny (Rhonda) Christiansen and Cindy (Chris) Ellis. She is also survived by her grandchildren John Christiansen, Reece (Mary Grace) Christiansen, Carson Ellis, Cameron Ellis, Cole Ellis, and Carlie Ellis, and her three great grandchildren Hattie, Millie, and Reed. Although she is gone, her memory will forever reside within them.
Jane was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all who were fortunate enough to know her. She was a thoughtful type of individual; always keeping an eye out for her family and friends. Whether it was a tangible gift or even comforting words of wisdom, she was always there to provide whatever was needed in that moment.
Jane was a woman of strong Christian faith. She was a long-time member of the North Side Church of Christ; raising her children within the church and attending services up until she was no longer able.
In her free time, she liked to spend time outdoors. Her family recalls her spending hours outside gardening and tending to her flower beds. She would even turn it into a family affair, recruiting her grandchildren to help water the flowers. Her daughter recalls her being very good with her hands. Jane liked to sew, crafting garments with particular care as she made each stitch into the fabric. She would even go on to make her daughter’s wedding dress.
