Jane Mary (Stein) Cramton, 79, passed away on February 27, 2024 at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, 16 precious days after surviving a massive heart attack on February 11, 2024.
She was born on January 3, 1945 in Rhinelander, Wisconsin to Ethel and Joseph Stein and raised in Eagle River, Wisconsin. Jane and her twin brother Joe were the youngest of five siblings, including Marilou ("Skippy"), Edith, and Therese.
Jane was an active member of St. Peter Catholic Church where she made many wonderful friends and spent countless volunteer hours in support of her faith. Her dream came true when she retired from Cub Foods in Madison and was able to return to Eagle River and move into her "little yellow house." She loved watching the wildlife through her windows. Jane was a gifted writer and wrote many short stories about her childhood in Eagle River, her love of animals, her family, and other various memories. She had an enviable recall for detail. Jane also made lifelong friends through the Wisconsin Arabian Horse Association, where she showcased her beloved soul horse, Hillcrest Imarzz, or just "Z." Jane was a lifelong Green Bay Packers fan, and in 2011 became a proud shareholder. In her free time, Jane loved to work in her garden, watch Lisa and Travis's horses on the webcam, play games on her Kindle, work puzzles, make trips to the local casinos to play the slots, talk on the phone and travel vicariously with her kids, and spend time with family and friends.
Jane is survived by the pride and joy of her life, her loving children: Lisa (Travis Underwood), Michelle ("Missy"), Beth, and Marc; her devoted dog: Trudy; numerous furry grandkids, her best friend and sister: Edith; and countless nieces, nephews, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Ethel and Joseph; siblings: Skippy, Therese, and Joe; ex-husband: Chuck with whom she shared her four children.
A funeral mass will be held on Monday, March 4, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 5001 Highway G, Eagle River, Wisconsin. Visitation will be at 10 am; mass will be at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Oneida County Humane Society, where Jane adopted her beloved Trudy in 2022. https://www.ochspets.org/about-us/donations/
